Harry Klauser, 87, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at his home in Fort Morgan. He was born July 12, 1921 in Eastlake, Colorado to John and Katherine (Schlothauer) Klauser. Harry lived in Idaho as a child. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army from 1940 until 1945. He was in the 116th Combat Engineers, stationed in New Hebrides Island in the Pacific and also the 54th Engineer Battalion at Mitchel Field in New York. He moved to Fort Morgan in 1947. Harry married Dorothy Marie Geist on February 27, 1949 in Fort Morgan. They farmed South of Fort Morgan for over thirty years. After he retired from farming he worked for Farmland COOP for a time and would also help friends during harvest. Harry was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan. He was a Life Member, Past Commander and District Finance Officer for the American Legion, was a member of the local VFW and the Disabled American Veterans and was a life time member and held a state office in the Colorado Bowling Association. Harry enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and reading, especially westerns. Survivors include two daughters, Patty Kembel and husband Ed of Fort Morgan and Debbie Griffith and husband Galen of Middletown, Delaware, one sister, Helen Eyraud of Rupert, Idaho, three granddaughters, Katie Randklev, Sarah Vogel and Maryann Griffith and three great grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, one sister, Lydia Galassini and three brothers, Ed, Alex and Albert Klauser and an infant daughter. There will be a visitation a the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan on Monday, March 16, 2009 from 3 until 6 PM. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Memorial Gifts may be made to either the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan or to the Disabled American Veterans transportation fund at 26186 Morgan County Road 7, Weldona, CO 80653.
