Obituary

Harry L. Newton, 77, of Fort Morgan, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center. He was born January 24, 1939, in Dodge City, KS to Elmer & Annadell Newton.

On March 1, 1956, Harry joined the US Navy. He was honorably discharged on March 11, 1962. In 1979 Harry moved to Morgan County and began work as a heavy equipment operator for Public Service Company at the Pawnee Station. He retired in 1992.

Harry loved "fixing" things. He was a "tinkerer", enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and dancing. He loved to be a heckler and practical joker. He learned to play the banjo and mandolin from his grandfather. His favorite time was spent with this family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Fort Morgan; children, Cynthia King & Donna Peterson of Fayetteville, GA, Andrew & Margaret Newton of Fort Lupton, Bill & Diane Krehmeyer of Fort Morgan, Darlene & Ken Partin of Greeley, CO, and Shelly Vasquez & Danny Moya of Fort Morgan; his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Mathew, Brittnee, Dalton, Brooklynn, Anthony, Eric, Desire, Dominic, Bobbi, Donovan, Krystalina, and Anthony. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Leroy Newton & Lonnie Krehmeyer; 2 sisters, Joanne, and Charlotte; and his parents.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Military honors by the US Navy will follow the service. The service will conclude at the mortuary.
