Harry Weimer, after a lifetime of faithful service, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

Harry was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado on December 28, the seventh child of Fred and Marie Weimer. After graduating from Fort Morgan high school and serving in the US army in Korea, he married Natalia Foos. Together, they farmed in Hillrose, Colorado for several years before moving to Longmont, Colorado to attend Rockmont College. They felt a call to pursue missionary work, joined Wycliffe Bible Translators, and traveled to Papua New Guinea (PNG) in 1962 to become linguists and Bible translators.

Harry spent 27 years in Papua New Guinea, translated two New Testaments into the Yareba (1973) and Aneme Wake (1989) languages, supervised Bible translation into other languages, and was director of Wycliffe's work in PNG. He retired to Fort Morgan in 1991 where he was active at Immanuel Church and with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene (Sanford) Weimer; sister Ruth (Andy) Anderson of San Diego, children Jim (Shirley) Weimer of Brush, Susan (Doug) Felch of Grand Rapids, MI, and Joshua Weimer of Denver; grandchildren Michele (Johnnie) Torrez of Greeley and Ryan Weimer of Brush; great-grandchildren Adrian Weimer, and Aleycia and Lilly Torrez of Greeley.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Natalia Foos, and second wife, Dottie West; four brothers, Fred, Sam, Reinhart, and Reuben Weimer; and four sisters, Lydia Meyer, Marie Weimer, Martha Stark, and Caroline Browne.
