Hazel E. Smith, 98, longtime Ft. Morgan resident, died Sunday afternoon at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan. She was born August 28, 1913 at the family homestead near Stoneham to Edmund and Lettie (Myers) McCloud. She married Elmer (Doc) Smith October 25, 1934. Elmer died April 30, 1984. She enjoyed being a homemaker and babysitting in her home. She also worked for the Ft. Morgan schools as a cook, retiring in 1980. Hazel loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her son, Wayne Smith, of Grove, OK, her daughter, Karen Propp, of Ft. Morgan, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 10 great – great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, her parents; four sisters, Elva Bowles, Abbie Tague, Mildred Law and Edith Schmeeckle, and three brothers, Bill McCloud, Donald McCloud, and Keith McCloud. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
