HELEN BECKER, 96, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. She was born September 12, 1917 in Bayard, NE to Jacob & Elizabeth (Hart) Blitz. She grew up and attended schools in McGrew, NE. Helen married Carl Becker on January 11, 1936. Helen was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan. She also belonged to the Homemakers Club and the Christian Women's Club. Helen enjoyed crocheting, reading, and gardening. Her Lord and Savior was first and foremost priority in her life. Survivors include her children, Beverly Johnson of Minnesota, Sharrel Walter and her husband, Gene, of Greeley, Carl Robert Becker and his wife, Renee, of Fort Morgan, and Debra Riter and her husband, William, also of Fort Morgan. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Alvina Fenning of Bayard, NE. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her sister, Pauline Becker; her brother, Henry Blitz; her son-in-law, Monte Johnson; and her daughter, Anna Horan. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 12th at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Memorial donations may be made in Helen's name in care of Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701. The funds will be used towards missions.
