Helen Ruth Busch, 84, of Wiggins, passed away on November 1, 2017 at her home.
She was born June 13, 1933 in Milliken to George & Mary (Zimmerman) Bernhardt. She attended school there until her family moved to Wiggins in 1949. Helen graduated Valedictorian of Wiggins High School in 1951. Following graduation she attended Central Business College in Denver.
On September 14, 1952, Helen married Lester Busch of Wiggins. For a number of years, she was employed at the Wiggins school as well as other Wiggin's area businesses. In addition, she served as Wiggins Town Clerk for several years and then provided childcare for her seven grandchildren while their parents were at work.
Helen was a charter member of Wiggins Community Church and was the church's first pianist and financial secretary. She also served on the church board as well as other various church committees, sang in the choir, and served as choir leader for the children's choir. In her later years, she enjoyed cooking, reading, watching the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Rockies on TV, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Dan (Judy) Busch and daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Neb and Karen (Craig) Harris, all of Wiggins; grandchildren, Tara (Clyde) Mustain of Sterling, Cory (Carly) Busch of Firestone, and Jeff (Jaylin) Busch, Kyla Neb, Karla Harris, Kevin Harris, and Amanda (David) Herbstman, all of Wiggins; and her great granddaughters, Madison, Megan, Jaydin, and Josie. Helen is also survived by her sister, Marian (Delbert) Forbes of Fort Morgan; and two brothers, Albert (Helen) Bernhardt of Wiggins and Melvin (Bonnie) Bernhardt of Mitchell, NE.
She was preceded in death her husband and her parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7th from 5 – 7 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 8th at Wiggins Community Church. Services will conclude at the church, followed by cremation.
Private inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Women's Fellowship in care of Wiggins Community Church, 423 Dixon Street, Wiggins, CO 80654.
