Obituary

Helen Caroline Comer, 88, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan. She was born September 4, 1919 in Otis, Colorado to Emil and Dora (Myers) Rehnberg. She married Donald D. Comer on August 13, 1938 in Imperial, Nebraska. They moved to this area in 1957 from Chase County, Nebraska. Helen was a member and also served as Deaconess of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Morgan. She was also a member of the Friendship Club at Hillcrest. Helen enjoyed playing cards, gardening, doing embroidery work and entertaining. She loved to cook for family and friends and baking bread and making cabbage pockets were a couple of her specialties. Survivors include two daughters, Dee Carpenter of Ft. Morgan and Karen Schlundt of Fort Worth, Texas, two sons, Kennie Comer of Longmont and Carl Comer of Joes, Colorado, two sisters, Vada Wenich of Ontario, Oregon and Bonnie Albers of Halfway, Missouri, eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, one daughter, Donna Gale Comer, infant son, David Laverne Comer, grandson, Douglas Schlundt, and her brother, Robert Sherwood. There will be a visitation on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 2 until 5 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Monday, March 17, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the First Baptist Church. The Heer Mortuary and Crematory in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements
