Helen (Jean) Jeanette Jones, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Longmont, Colorado, surrounded by her loved ones. Jean was born on December 24, 1942, in Sugar City, Colorado, to Johannes and Rebecca Heil.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Jodene DeKorte, and her husband, Kevin, of Fort Morgan; her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Jones, of Brush; two cherished grandchildren, Desirae Martin and her husband, Timothy, of Brush, and Ashley Jones and her wife, Sara, of Loveland; and three beloved great-grandchildren, Caelum, Joslyn, and Harlow Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Merton Lynn Jones; her three brothers; her two sons, Richard Karl Jones and Douglas Gene Jones; and her grandson, Gregory Joe Jones.
Jean lived a life full of love, creativity, and service. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she found immense joy in spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, who brought her endless delight. Jean was an accomplished seamstress and a dedicated quilter, crafting beautiful creations that reflected her skill and care. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a proud participant in the quilting group, where she spent countless hours sewing and tying quilts. Even at home, her hands were rarely idle, as she continued her sewing and quilting work with passion and purpose.
Jean was also deeply committed to youth development through her years of involvement with the Boy Scouts of America and Camp Fire Boys and Girls. As a dedicated scouting mom and club leader, she made a lasting impact on the lives of her children, grandchildren, and many other young people. She enthusiastically led activities, encouraged personal growth, and fostered a sense of adventure and community.
Jean will be remembered for her warm heart, her devotion to her family, and her ability to create beauty with her hands. Her legacy lives on through the quilts and other things she made, the lives she touched, and the values she instilled in those who loved her.
Visitation will be held at Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan on Tuesday, January 21st from 4-6 PM. Graveside services will take place at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Avenue, Boulder, on Wednesday, January 22nd at 1:00 PM.
