Obituary

Helen P. Ponce, 89,  lifelong Fort Morgan resident, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush.

Helen was born July 25, 1928 in Miera, New Mexico to Pedro and Felicita Padilla. She married Antonio M. Ponce on March 17, 1947. He died in April of 1980.

Helen was a very social person, and liked to dance. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, canning, and tending to her vegetable garden. She was a God Parent to at least 50 people.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Mason of Fort Morgan, and Mona Humphrey (John) of Marietta, Georgia, friend, Tony Escamilla, with whom she has been with for 35 years, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by half- brothers, Leandro Padilla, Eugene Padilla, Joseph Padilla, William Padilla, infant brother, Gilbert Padilla, and her parents.

There will be a visitation on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 5 until 7 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.

Funeral Services will be Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Sanctuary, located on Highway 34, west of Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
