Obituary

Henry "Hank" Bloom, 93, life resident of the Brush community, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. He was born August 15, 1913, in Portland, OR, to Conrad & Lena Blum. When Hank was a child the Blum family moved to Brush. He served in the US Navy during WW II. On December 16, 1943, Hank married Leah Becker in St. Francis, KS. Hank was a master mechanic and owned and operated B & B Garage in Brush for many years. He served on the Brush Fire Department for over 20 years. Hank is known for his meticulous workmanship and he restored one of the old firetrucks for the Brush Fire Department. He was very active, when his health permitted, at the Immanuel Congregational Church in Brush. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include 1 brother, Albert of Fort Collins, CO; 2 sisters, Marie Wheeler of Brush and Helen Poynter of Lakewood, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leah; 5 brothers, George, John, William, Conrad Jr, and Harry; 1 sister, Elizabeth Akers; and his parents. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:30 – 5:00 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Brush Fire Department or to the Immanuel Congregational Church in Brush... The Heer Mortuary & Crematory in Brush is entrusted with the funeral and cremation arrangements.
