Henry Leroy Linker, 85, lifelong area resident, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. He was born June 19, 1925 in Weldona to Henry and Bertha (Hart) Linker Jr. Henry was baptized in the Ft. Morgan Congregational Church and confirmed at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hillrose. In 1929, the family moved to Washington County. He graduated from Hillrose High School in 1943. In 1944, he enlisted and served his country in the US Navy until 1946. After returning home from the service, he and his father began a partnership in farming and cattle feeding. In 1959, Henry and his brother, Clarence, formed Linker Brothers. They retired and moved to Brush in 1997. Henry married Barbara Wood on January 13, 1961 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Denver. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, the Brush American Legion and a life member of the local Elks Club. Henry is a former Director of the Hillrose Irrigation District, the Lower Platte and Beaver Ditch Company and Farmland Coop. Henry was an avid sports fan. He followed CU football, the Denver Broncos, the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Rockies and any team his grandchildren were on. Linker bowled on the same bowling team for 54 years, originally Jack Boxer and Sons, it later became Rocky Mountain Flagging. He also enjoyed fishing and he and his family took annual fishing trips to Saratoga, Wyoming. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Linker of Brush; one daughter, Jody Halvorson and husband, Shawn, of Brush; one son, Terry Linker of Hillrose; one brother, Clarence Linker of Brush; six grandchildren, Jared and Suzanne Halvorson, Lauren, Jayme, Coree and Isaac Linker. Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alvin Linker and his sister, Beverly Linker, who died when she was very young. A memorial service will be Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. Services will conclude at the church. Memorial Gifts may be made to either the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or to the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
