Henry Schlothauer, 90, lifelong Fort Morgan resident, died Tuesday evening, November 3, at Eben Ezer Nursing Home in Brush. Mr. Schlothauer was born September 10, 1919, in Fort Morgan to Jacob and Katherine Schlothauer. He married Lydia (Ruhl) Schlothauer on March 28, 1943. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his military service, he was employed for several years as a carpenter. He went to work for the Great Western Sugar Company in 1953 and retired in 1981 after 28 years of service. He was an avid gardener and supplied the relatives and neighbors with tomatoes and cucumbers each summer. Survivors include his son, Richard Schlothauer of Lakewood, Calif.; one sister, Lydia Bostron of Fort Morgan; and one brother, Sam Schlothauer of Denver. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ann Riffel, Marie Fries, Leah Weimer, Rachel Menking, Millie Elmore, and Katherine Gammel, and brothers, Jake and Dave Schlothauer. Interment was held in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan.
