Howard M. Allmer, 65, died, Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at his home in Brush. He was born June 26, 1943 in South Dakota. Howard grew up South of Wiggins on their farm. He attended public schools in Wiggins, and the National Electronics Institute in Denver. He returned to Wiggins and farmed for two years before becoming the manager a Tripp-Way Corp. hog farm. He married Charlene Trembath on April 19, 1970 in Wiggins. After he married Charlene, he was employed by the Century Housing Corporation in Ft. Morgan in the cabinet shop where he worked for 20 years. In 1990 Howard became a youth worker at high Plains Youth Center in Brush. Howard attended the Grace Bible Church in Ft. Morgan and worked with the AWANA Clubs. He later he became a member of the New Hope Community Church in Brush. Howard loved animals. He raised Greyhounds and Australian Shepherds in the 1960's, raced homing pigeons when there was an active club here. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Feather Fanciers Club where he showed exotic poultry and served on various committees in that club. Howard was also a 4-H leader. He was a coach for rabbit and poultry judging and coached a 4-H softball team. In recent years, declining health forced him to slow down, but he did enjoy watching television as well as doing Word Search and Sudoku puzzles. Survivors include, his wife Charlene Allmer of Brush, one son, Scott Allmer of Colorado Springs, adoptive mother, Annie Hillman and her husband Alfred, of Greeley, one brother, Bruce Allmer of Gilcrest, three sisters, Bev Davenport of San Diego, California, Linda Adams of Colorado Springs and Margaret Stoltman of Grand Junction, one granddaughter and eight half sisters. Howard was preceded in death by his birth parents, Rudy and Marge Behring and adoptive father, Jake Allmer. A Celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the New Hope Community Church in Brush. Services will conclude at the church. Inurnment will be in the Larkspur Columbarium in Brush at a later date. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to The Gideons International, or to NCAP at 400 Remington, Suite 100, Ft.
