Obituary

Howard M. Foster. 70, longtime Ft. Morgan resident, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 28, 1943 in Hoxie, Kansas, the 12th child of 15 children, born to Clarence & Lea Foster. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict. Howard married Kaye Mattison on May 14, 1969 in Minden, Nebraska. In his earlier years, he worked for Morton Buildings, the Fort Morgan Housing Authority, and lastly Quad County Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the First Christian Church for 35 years, and a member of the American Legion Post #19 for 43 years. Howard enjoyed camping, fishing, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and meeting friends for coffee. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kaye, four daughters, Carma Holbeck (Rick Riffe), and daughter, Melynda; Tracy Frick (David) and their children, Brianna & Dawson; Mollie Yancey (Eric), and children, Amber, Dylan, and Josh; and their granddaughter and Howard's great granddaughter, Austyn, and Robbin McMorrow (Brian), and their children, Hannah, Riley and Gavin; a longtime friend, Dick French; 5 sisters and 4 brothers. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and his parents. A Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday at 10:30 AM at the First Christian Church in Ft. Morgan. The family would like for everyone to wear something yellow as it was Howard's favorite color. Military Honors will be presented by American Legion Post #19 in Ft. Morgan. A private inurnment will be in the Serenity Falls Columbarium. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to either the First Christian Church or to the American Legion Post #19 baseball program. The Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is entrusted with the arrangements.
