Howard E. Hobbs, 79, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Vibra Hospital in Denver. Howard fell in December, 2010, and died of injuries suffered in the fall. He was born September 26, 1931, in Ault, CO, to Frank & Dorothy Hobbs. He has lived in the Fort Morgan Community for over 75 years. Howard served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, Howard returned to Fort Morgan and married Dorothy Miller. Howard worked as a carpenter and was one of the co-founders of the Hobbs Housing Addition in Fort Morgan. He also worked at the Western Sugar Company during several sugar beet campaigns. Howard was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and the VFW #2551, and was a life member of the American Legion..He served a Boy Scout leader in Fort Morgan for several years. He enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Fort Morgan; 3 children, Raina Hallahan of Brush, Annette Rusch of Fort Morgan, and Brian Hobbs of Germany; 1 brother Harold Hobbs of Florida; 1 sister Barbara Denes of Fort Morgan; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and his parents. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan.
