Iola "Ole" Moeller, 95, of Fort Morgan, passed away at Banner Health Medical Hospital in Brush, Colorado on November 24, 2022 Thanksgiving Day.
Iola was born on July 3rd, 1927 to Ira Lester and Amanda Hedrickson in Wiggins, Colorado. She had seven siblings; Glenn and Lynn Hendrickson, Esther Clemons, Blanche Patton, Alta Rigli, Doris Carmin and Ruth Merklin, all who preceded her in death.
Ole grew up in and around Fort Morgan, and in 1945 she met and married Loren Moeller of Brush, Colorado. They had 5 Children; Larry Moeller of Fort Morgan, Bob Moeller of Brush, Jeannie "Tim" Costello of Denver, Cindy Buchanan of Loveland and Tami Moeller of Fort Morgan. Grandchildren; Shawn "Chasity" Moeller of Searcy, Arkansas, Eric "Jamie" Moeller of Thorton, Colorado, Jessica "Spencer" Walsh of Eaton, Colorado, Zachary Buchanan of Fort Morgan, Colorado, Amy "Logan" Winter of Fort Morgan, Colton Wulf "Leslie" of Fort Morgan, and Conor "Jera" Costello of Taos, New Mexico. She had ten Great Grandchildren and leaves behind her beloved dog "Freddie".
Loren and Ole owned and operated Gold Crown Lanes from 1960 to 1983 where she was actively involved in Bantam and Junior Bowling Leagues. She was a terrific bowler and traveled to many State and National Tournaments.
Upon selling the Bowling Lanes Ole was active in the American Cancer Society, driving and delivering for Meals on Wheels and Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, Colorado. In the early 1980's along with a couple of friends formed a Non-profit Association of 'Morgan County Cares' whereas they had a pool of thirty-five to forty local volunteers that drove patients throughout Northeastern Colorado. Ole served as a Coordinator for the drivers and some days had as many as 4 drivers going to different locations.
In 1998 Ole was inducted into the Morgan County Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame with an award of "Merit of Excellence". In addition to being an avid bowler, Ole enjoyed golf, boating and traveling. A Celebration of Life will be held December 11th at 730 Sherman Street, Fort Morgan, Colorado from 1:00 to 4:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
