Obituary

IONA MAE COX, 78, longtime area resident, died late Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at her home in Brush. She was born April 7, 1929 in a farmhouse in Holyoke, CO to Clarence & Bertha (Badertscher) McGaughey. Her father died she was two and a half years old and her mother married Harve Dodge in 1932 who raised her as his own daughter. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1947. She married Fred Cox on May 1, 1949 in Fort Morgan. Mrs. Cox lived in Fort Morgan until moving to Brush in 2001. Mrs. Cox worked at Morgan Floral, Great Western Sugar, and Clark Feather. She was also Activity Director at the Senior Center for a number of years before her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan, the DOES, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing and playing bridge. Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth Cox of Fort Morgan and Roger Cox of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Jeanette Siever of Powell, WY, and Sharon Lundeen of Commerce City, CO, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Cox, her father, and her mother and stepfather. Visitation will be Sunday, March 2, 2008 from 5 – 7 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be Monday, March 3rd at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Memorial donations may be made to Relay For Life in care of the Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
