Obituary

IRENE BURCHETT, 85, lifelong area resident, died Sunday morning, February 26, 2012 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. She was born February 21, 1927 in Brush to John C. & Emma Alice (Knisley) Peters. She attended Brush schools and graduated from Brush High School. Shortly thereafter she began her career with Mountain Bell as Chief Operator. She worked for Mountain Bell for 30 years before her retirement. Irene married Charles Rex Burchett on October 31, 1949. She was a member of Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan and the Altar & Rosary Society. She also sang in the church choir for a number of years. She was also a member of the D.O.E.S., the California branch of the D.A.R., Telephone Pioneers, and the Fort Morgan Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering at the hospital, music, playing bridge, dancing, and bowling. Irene is survived by her five children and their spouses, Rex Burchett & Linda of Greeley, Alice Carlson & Chuck of Ramona, CA, Timothy Burchett & Sarah of Estes Park, Catherine Hudson & Harold of Greeley, and Christine Bratrsovsky & Tom of Fort Morgan. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and her brother, Harry Peters of Denver. Irene was preceded in death by 8 siblings, her parents, and her husband. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, March 1st with a Rosary Vigil beginning at 7:00 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 2nd at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Helena's Catholic Church.
