Obituary

Irene Virginia Hoffner, 85 of Wiggins died Saturday at her home in Wiggins. She was born November 27, 1922 in Gill, CO to Carl and Lena (Foos) Brug. She attended Gill Schools all twelve years, graduating in 1940. She married Jacob Hoffner on April 23, 1944. She worked at the Safeway store in Greeley while her husband served in the armed forces during World War II. After Jake returned, they farmed at Gill for eleven years. They bought a farm at Wiggins and lived there since 1958. She was a member of the Wiggins Community Church and belonged to the Women's Fellowship. She was a homemaker and loved working with animals and always had a beautiful flower garden. She loved listening to polka music and liked to dance the polka. She also loved bowling. Irene is survived by her husband Jacob of Wiggins, daughter Jane and Michael Levy, Hannah and Sam of Alexandria, VA and daughter in law Betty Hoffner of Oakland, NE. She was preceded in death by son Timothy, her parents and brothers Victor and Edward. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am at the Wiggins Community Church.
