Irene (Hafer) Trumbo passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, at her home in Fort Morgan. She was born April 25, 1944, at Victory Hospital in Akron, CO to Virgil and Norma (Ross) Hafer.

Irene grew up on a farm southwest of Akron. She attended a country school through the fourth grade and then attended Akron schools, graduating from Akron High School with the class of 1962. She met the love of her life, Jerry Trumbo, on a blind date set up by her cousin. Irene and Jerry married on December 11, 1962. They were married 56 years when Jerry passed away in 2019.

Irene loved bowling, which allowed her to make many friends over the span of nearly 50 years. She was also an avid Denver Broncos fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; brothers, Ross and Floyd; infant sister, Elnora; niece, Jamie; and nephew, Junior.

She is survived by her sons, Paul and Mark; her bonus son, Fred; granddaughter, ChaHarley; grandson, Jonathon; great granddaughters, ChaHoppe, Channalise; great grandson, Caspian; nephew, Jim; nieces, Lori, Joni, Jackie, and Kelly, and many cousins.

At Irene's request, there will not be any services. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.
