Irma G. Gade 87, passed away Friday morning in Denver. She lived in Morgan County for 48 years before moving back to Denver in 2002. She was born with a twin brother, Clem, on August 23, 1920 to James and Arcie Fancher in Rocky Ford. She spent her childhood years as the oldest of ten children and lived in Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas. Irma began high school in Green Forest, Arkansas subsequently graduated from high school in Clovis, New Mexico. Shortly after, her family relocated to Portland, Oregon. Irma stayed in Portales, New Mexico to study business administration at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. At the beginning of World War II, Irma worked as a civilian employee at the Army Air Base in Clovis, NM. Following the war, Irma relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota to continue her education. She graduated from the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in 1947. To pursue her career, she again relocated, this time to Denver to work at the Fort Logan Army Hospital as a laboratory technician. In 1950, her work moved to the brand new Veterans Administration Hospital in downtown Denver where she continued her career. Irma relocated to Brush, when she married Holger Gade on June 24, 1954. They raised two children in Ft. Morgan. Holger passed away on August 22, 1975. During her time in Morgan County she worked at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center for thirteen years and additional years for the Fort Morgan Community Hospital as a home health aide and later as a private home health aide before her retirement in the late 1980's. Irma was a member of the Keystone Chapter of the Eastern Star, Portales, New Mexico. Irma is survived by her daughter, Kathryn of Littleton, her son Kenneth and daughter in-law Marsha of Ojai, California and three sisters, Gerry Dixon of Portland, Oregon, LaVeta Lawton of Endicott, New York, and Rena Moynihan of Farmington, Missouri. In addition to her husband, four sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
