Obituary

Irvin Lee Stumpf, 91, died Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge. He was born November 17, 1922 in Fort Morgan to Jacob and Katherine Stumpf. Irvin started school in Fort Morgan and graduated from high school in Hillrose. He then attended the Colorado School Mines. Irvin married Dorothy M. Fries on March 19, 1950 in Fort Morgan. They were married for 64 years. When he lived in Denver he was the manager of Hydro Conduit, and later became District Manager. He also did a lot of estimating for earth contractors. After retiring in 1986 he and Dorothy moved to San Diego where he was an avid golfer. Later they returned to Colorado. In his earlier years, Irvin was an active member in both Congregational and Presbyterian churches where he served on the board of directors, and as an usher. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, two daughters, Joy Stern (Michael), and Judy Evans (Doug), and four grandchildren. Irvin was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Dones, his brother, Howard, a grandson, Joshua Alexander, and his parents. Graveside Memorial Services will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at Memory Gardens in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow the graveside services. Memorial Gifts may be made to the Collier Hospice Center in care of Heer Mortuary.
