Ivan O. Adkins, 81, longtime Woodrow – Brush area resident, passed away Monday night, March 7, 2011, at the Columbine West Care Center in Fort Collins. He was born May 7, 1929, in Brush, to Grover & Grace Adkins. Ivan served in the US Army National Guard during the Korean Conflict. Ivan married Ann Welch on May 24, 1952 in Sugar Town, LA. She passed away on June 18, 1986. Ivan married Joyce Petty in Sterling, CO in October,21, 1986. She passed away February 24, 1991. On March 20, 1992, Ivan married Dorothy Reich. She passed away December 3, 2007. Prior to retirement, Ivan farmed near Woodrow. He was a member of the Church of Christ, the American Legion, Flying Farmers, active in the Republican Party, and a life member of the NRA. Ivan served on the Woodlin School Board for several years. Survivors include his children, Elena Kelly of Stockton, CA and Gayle Herrera of Fort Collins; 8 grandchildren, Ian, Jeremiah, Sarah, Gina, Bobby, Megan, Neil, and Valene; and 7 great grandchildren Evan, Tyler, Mason, Gwen, Christian, Abbi, and Seth. He was also preceded in death by one half sister, and his parents. Funeral services will be Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
