Obituary

Ivan Linnebur, 89, of Roggen, died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Bonell Good Samaritan Society in Greeley.

Ivan was born July 25, 1930 in Roggen to Joseph F. & Anna F. (Zwicke) Linnebur. He attended Kiowa schools, southeast of Roggen until the eighth grade, when he began working on the family farm fulltime at the age of 15. Ivan joined the Army in 1952. After his discharge, he returned home where he continued to farm. He married Alma Elizabeth Elpers on June 11, 1955 in Strasburg. At the time of his death, Ivan had lived on the family farm for 64 years.

Ivan was an Archer Oil dealer for 35 years and served on the Roggen Telephone Co-op Board for over 28 years. He served on the RE3-J School Board from 1979 through 1987. A man of great faith, Ivan was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roggen, and was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed going to Blackhawk as well as participating in area Turkey Shoots. "Luck" had always seemed to find Ivan in those endeavors, and he was always generous in spreading the wealth of his winnings with those most dear to him. Ivan also enjoyed playing Bingo, but especially enjoyed a good card game of Hearts or Pitch. He like to go fishing, bowling, and he loved painting… anything and everything! His passion was farming, but his heart was invested in his family and his relationships with people, a man of true integrity to all he knew.

Ivan is survived by his three daughters, Diane Sauter and husband, Tom of Bennett, Patricia Musgrave and husband, Jim of Wiggins, and Beth Gerkin and husband, Rick of Eaton; and his son, Joseph Linnebur of Eaton; his brother, Earl Linnebur of Roggen, 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Agnes Evers and Eileen Weibert; his daughter, Jacque Gerkin; and his beloved wife, Alma.
