Ivan E. Thoms, 93, longtime Morgan County resident, passed away Thursday evening, September 4, 2014, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. He was born August 14, 1921, to Emil & Ethel Thoms, in Ogallala, NE. Ivan served in the US Army during WW II. On November 30, 1942, he married Alice Wahlert in Sidney, NE. Following his honorable discharge, Ivan owned and operated an automotive garage in Hillrose. Following his retirement, the Thoms' moved to Brush where Ivan continued his scrap metal business. He was a member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife, Alice of Brush; 2 sons, Eugene of Hesperia, CA and Norman of Gering, NE; 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Renee, Hollis and Emil; sisters, Sydney, Alpha, Eunice, Myrl, Phyllis, and Eula. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Lyle, Donald, and Neil. A graveside service with military honors by the US Army will be Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Brush Memorial Cemetery Interment Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Mortuary Chapel in Brush.
