C. C. "JACK" BOONE, 88, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died Monday morning, August 25, 2008 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Chester C. Boone was born in Las Animas, CO on June 12, 1920 to Chester C. Boone Sr. & Venus (Phillips) Boone. He received the nick name "Jack" in the 1950's by his co-workers. His family moved to Park, KS when he was three years old. Later they returned to Pueblo, CO and he graduated from Pueblo Central High School in 1940. After high school he moved to San Diego, CA and worked at Consolidated Air Craft until he joined the Merchant Marines in 1943. He was later commissioned to Lieutenant in the Army and spent the rest of his service career in France and Germany until his honorable discharge in 1946. After his discharge from the service he moved to Chase, KS where he operated a welding shop for a number of years. In 1953 he moved to Fort Morgan where he opened an oilfield welding shop where he worked until ill health forced his retirement in 1990. He married Gloryann Frasco on June 26, 1955 in Fort Morgan. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0076, Wiggins, CO Mr. Boone is survived by his wife, Gloryann Boone of Fort Morgan; two daughters, Kim Hamilton of Londonderry, N.H. and Diane Boone of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters. There has been cremation. Private Inurnment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date. The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of cremation arrangements.
