Obituary

Jack W. Carter, 82, longtime Brush area resident, passed away Sunday, July 08, 2007, at the hospice inpatient center at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.. He was born March 10, 1925, in Lawton, OK, to Martin & Bettie Carter. He entered the US Navy during WW II, and continued his service in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and the National Guard during the Viet Nam conflict. He was discharged in 1968. He moved to Brush in 1961 and served as the lab director for the East Morgan County Hospital until his retirement in 1987. Jack married Alyce Krueger on June 13, 1964, in Brush. Jack was the first director for the Morgan County Ambulance Service. Survivors include his wife, Alyce, of Brush; 4 children, Paul, and his wife, Diane, of Arvada, CO, Jack L., and his wife, Linda, of Waterville, ME, Carol, and her husband, Ken, Grunkemeyer of Laramie, WY, and Dr. Lauralyn Carter – Meletich, and her husband, Hector, of Cooper City, FL; his daughter-in-law, Judy Carter of California; 9 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Jerald, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and his parents. Funeral services will be at the Brush United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds Street on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at 10:00 A.M. Military interment services by the US Army Honor Guard will be at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary on Tuesday from 2 – 5 PM.. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Brush United Methodist Church or to Hospice & Palliative Care of North Colorado in Fort Morgan.
