Obituary

Jack E. Massey, 82, former Morgan County resident, passed away Monday, August 18, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He was born March 21, 1926, in Mount Olivet, KY. Jack served in the United State Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Prior to ill health forcing his retirement, Jack had worked for Rose Medical Center in Denver. In 1982 Jack moved to Morgan County, living in Brush for 3 years and 23 years in Hillrose. Health issues forced Jack to live at the Cheyenne, WY VA nursing home for 4 years and later at the VA Sam Rayburn Medical Center Nursing Home. The Massey's moved to Bonham, TX in February, 2008. Jack was a life member of DAV and a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Fort Morgan. Survivors include his wife, Lavina, of Bonham, TX; a son, Joseph of Arizona; daughter, Pamela Gonzales of Colorado; a step-son, a step daughter; his step-father and half sister in Washington state; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, and 4 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and his parents. A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, September 11, 2008, at 10:30 AM at the Interment Chapel in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Inurnment will follow in the Columbine Columbarium in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. The Heer Mortuary & Crematory entrusted with the local arrangements.
