E. Jack Shults, 83, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born December 3, 1927, in Kansas City, MO, to Leo and Lela (Jackson) Shults. Jack served in the US Navy from June 11, 1945 until November 29, 1948, serving as a boatswain's mate. On August 3, 1950, he married Melva Jean Frick in Raton, NM. He worked mostly with heavy equipment and was a welder. He worked the duration of the construction of the Carter Lake Project. He retired, after 32 years, with Cooley Gravel Co. out of Denver, Co. Jack was a member of the Brush United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He had served a Boy Scout leader for many years. Survivors include his wife, Jean, of Brush; their 3 children, Carol Woody (Paul) of Newcastle, OK, Leo Shults (Donna) of Broomfield, CO; and Barbara Morgan of Brush; 1 grandson, Jack Shults (Bobbie) of Helena, MT; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 great grandsons, 5 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold; 1 brother, Dell; 2 sisters, Beverly Ward and Margie McCrary and his parents. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the Brush United Methodist Church. The service will conclude at the Church. Private inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery Columbarium. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the charity of the donor's choice.
