Obituary

JACK WEIMER, 97, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died early Friday morning, August 27, 2010 at his home. He was born December 24, 1912 in Winnipeg, Canada to Jacob & Katie (Stephan) Weimer. In 1920 he moved with his family to Scottsbluff, NE and became a citizen in 1931. He married Wilma Shoemaker on September 1, 1940 in Scottsbluff. In 1936, Mr. Weimer became employed by Safeway as a meat cutter. He moved to Sidney in 1941 and to Fort Morgan in 1970. He retired in 1977. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1943 until 1946. He was a past master of the Masonic Lodge and a member for 62 years. Mr. Weimer was a life member of the Elks Lodge with a membership of 73 years. He also served as deacon and elder of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan where he was also a member. He enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Mr. Weimer is survived by his wife Wilma; his daughter, Judy Ingersoll and husband, DeLos; his brother, Edward Weimer and wife, Jessie; sister-in-law, Martha Weimer ; two grandchildren, Gary Armstrong and wife, Jamie, and Kimberly Keys and husband, Kevin; and four great grandchildren, Jessica Ferguson, Ellie Nelms, Karlie Armstrong, and Hayden Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary; his parents; two brothers, Alex and David; and his sister, Mary. A memorial service will be Tuesday, August 31st at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the church. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, NE at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the First Christian Church, 225 W. Bijou Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of arrangements.
