James Farrell Green Jr. (Jim) passed away peacefully on July 5, 2022 in Greeley, Colorado, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.  He was born to James Farrell Green, Sr. and Mildred Green on February 25, 1937.

He attended Fort Morgan schools and graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1955.  He was nominated to be an applicant to the Air Force Academy but was not accepted for medical reasons.  He later was accepted as a student at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado where he earned a Degree in Metallurgical Engineering.

He married Janet Schreiner in Fort Morgan on August 12,1956.  They moved to Golden where Jim finished his college education.  His first job was with Collins Radio Company in Burbank, California where he was employed for several years in the engineering department. He and Jan later returned to Fort Morgan in 1964 where he began working with his father at Green Brothers Ready mix  Company.

During his tenure at Green Brothers Concrete they poured concrete slip form ditches on farms and installed ditch boxes, they slip formed curb and gutter for Fort Morgan, Brush, and Wiggins, they built the first three houses in a housing development they developed in Brush, they poured house foundations, and they supplied the concrete for three silos at Great Western Sugar Company.  His engineering knowledge and experience living in a "concrete family" served him well.

Jim served for 8 years as a City Councilman for Fort Morgan during which time the new waste water treatment plant and new water treatment plant were built.  He also worked very hard at bringing Big Thompson water to Fort Morgan.  He was very proud to have seen those projects completed.

His spare time included driving to Sterling with his neighbor John Young to get a certificate as an EMT so they could volunteer as ambulance drivers. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years.   He loved to fish and would often take his family in the camper to Gould camp ground for a long weekend.  After his retirement he and Jan would take his pickup and fifth wheel camper on trips with their travel group.  He was a lifetime member of B.O.P.E.

Jim is survived by his wife Jan of Fort Morgan, daughter Melanie Kindvall (Daryl) of Atwood, son James Farrell Green III (Katie) of Fort Morgan, daughter Jerri Lyn Bibeau of Strasburg, sister Jeanette Palmer of Aurora, brother Jesse H. Green of Thornton, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gerald, grandson Douglas Green and son-in-law Charles Bibeau.

A Celebration of Life was held at Christ Congregational Church, 730 Ensign Street on July 30th 2022 at 10:30 a.m.  Memorials may be sent to the Fort Morgan Heritage Foundation or Fort Morgan Humane Society.
