JAMES "SONNY" GROVES, 79, died Thursday morning, April 5, 2012 at Valley View Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan. He was born in Orchard on September 18, 1932 to Ted & Hazel (Barns) Groves. Sonny was a longtime area rancher for the majority of his life. He enjoyed Roping, Rodeos, fishing, and hunting. Survivors include his five children, Kim Deganhart of Weldona, Darrell Groves & Joni of Wiggins, Rod Groves & Gail of Orchard, Laurie Pate of Fort Morgan, and Rick Groves & Teresa of Weldona. Sonny is also survived by eight of his siblings, Thea Silz, Ellen Padilla, Sharon Ann Reyman, and Susie Montel, all of Fort Morgan, Wanda Knapp of Brush, Thora Gardner of Weldona, and Dean Groves and Jerry Groves, both of Orchard; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Teddy Groves; his son-in-law, Jim Deganhart, and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 9th at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
