James Hauersperger Sr., 84, of Log Lane Village, died Monday morning at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan. He was born April 28, 1924 in Thomasboro, ILL. To Mathew and Clara (Grotfield) Hauersperger. He served as a tail gunner in a B-24 during WWII, flying 30 missions. James married Lois Hamlin October 30, 1948 in Ft. Morgan. He was a Master Plumber, having worked for the Hurketts Town & Country Plumbing & Heating, and for the Patterson Hardware Company. He started working for the RE-3 school district in the 1960's and retired in 1986. He volunteered at the Nearly New Shop for many years. He drove people to cancer treatments, and delivered meals on wheels for past few years. James enjoyed golfing, fly fishing, playing cribbage and bowling, he bowled for forty years, beginning in the petroleum league and later in the senior league. He was a member of the Saint Charles Episcopal Church, two cribbage clubs, the Elks and the V.F.W. James is survived by his children Judy Watson and her husband Randy, and Jay Hauersperger all of Ft. Morgan, his granddaughter Molly Watson of Greeley, his grandson Garrett Watson of Ft. Morgan, and one sister Rose Spencer of Baltimore, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois, five brothers, George, Bernerd, Charles, John, and Robert, 3 sisters, Marie, Gladys, and Nellie. and his parents. A Memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at the Saint Charles Episcopal Church in Ft. Morgan. The V.W.F. Post 2551 will be conducting Military Honors.
