James D. Hutcheson, 85, former State Farm Insurance agent in Brush, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born January 22, 1925 in Brush to Samuel Dawson & Mary Opal Hutcheson. He graduated from Brush High School in 1943. Following graduating, Jim served in the US Army from 1943 until 1945. After returning to Brush, Jim married Anna Marie Trexler on February 6, 1949 in Brush. Jim owned the Conoco Gas Station in Brush, later was a car salesman for Carroll Motor Company, and then served as Sales Manager for McLagan Dairy. After leaving McLagan Dairy, Jim owned and operated the State Farm Insurance Agency in Brush for over 30 years. While serving as an insurance agent, Jim became a Certified Life Insurance Underwriter. Jim was a very active Brush community supporter. He served on the Brush City Council from 1968 – 1972, was elected Mayor of Brush and served from 1972 – 1974, was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge AF & AM #123, a charter member of Bunker Hill Country Club, and was a member of the Sagebrush Post of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and golf. Jim also enjoyed doing handyman jobs. Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie of Brush; 3 daughters, Beth Pabst of Greeley, Rebecca Hutcheson of Brush, and Deloris Nyberg of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; 1 sister, Donna Brecht, of Northglenn, CO; 6 grandchildren, Brian & Heather Pabst, Sonia & Erik Mohrlang, and Brianna Borchert and Julia Nyberg; 6 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Sally Jo; 1 granddaughter, Katie Mohrlang; a brother, Robert, his parents, Dawson and Mary Opal Hutcheson and his step-mother, Myrtle Adele Hutcheson. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 30, 2010, at 1:30 pm at the Brush United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds Street. The service will conclude at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
