James Alan McKenzie, 66, longtime area resident, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at his home south of Fort Morgan.

He was born May 3, 1950 in Portland, Oregon.

Jim moved to this area from Canon City in the early 1970s.

Hunting, fishing, and camping were some of his hobbies. He also collected guns for many years and reloaded his own ammunition for most of them.

Survivors include his wife Tammy McKenzie, of Fort Morgan, his mother, Virginia Holt of Fort Morgan, and his step-mother, Anita McKenzie who lives in Arizona, children, Jim McKenzie (Diana) of Fort Morgan, Joshua McKenzie of Delta, Shani McKenzie of Fort Morgan, Jennifer Parker (John Shaver) of Fort Morgan, Casandra Rosling (Nathan) of Roggen, Don Mead of Fort Morgan, Michael Mead of Fort Morgan, and Melody Williams (Johnnie) of Clear Water, Florida, one brother, seven sisters, and eighteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Mckenzie, step-father, Dallas Holt, and a sister, Deanna McKenzie.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan.   Interment will follow in the Adena Cemetery.
