Obituary

James Malcolm McKie, Sr., 89, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021.  Jim was born in Berwyn, IL and at six weeks of age Jim and his mother Margaret joined his father, Harold McKie, to begin a ranching life south of Fort Morgan.

After graduating from South High School in Denver, Jim wed Sylvia Yearous in 1952.  Two days after his wedding, Jim's Army unit shipped out for Korea.  Upon his safe return, Jim began a lifelong career as a mechanic, truck driver, and heavy equipment operator.  He especially enjoyed his time running the maintainer for Morgan County.  With an artistic eye and mechanical gift, Jim enjoyed model trains, metal work, and wood working.  He could fix anything, from bicycles to broken hearts.

Jim and Sylvia began a family that he cherished.  He never hesitated to share his hobbies, or his time with those he loved.  Left with a lifetime of memories are his wife of 68 years Sylvia; children Jim Jr. (Betty Jo) McKie, Ann (Guy) Rayner; Laurie (George) Luke, Margie (George) Burgesser, and John (Jill) McKie. There are 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of Colorado Plains Medical Center, especially the ICU staff and the Drs. Anne and Tom Manchester for their compassion and support.

There has been cremation. No formal services are planned.
