James "Jim" L. Savage, 72, of Walden, Colorado passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colorado in hospice. Jim was born to William J. and Hazel Katherine Hanna (Weaver) Savage on January 29, 1938 in Holyoke, CO. At the age of four, his family moved to Chappell, Nebraska where he attended kindergarten through the 12th grade. After graduation in 1956, Jim joined the Navy until 1960. In 1960 Jim met the love of his life, Carol. They were married May 20, 1961. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling and taxidermy. Jim was a meat cutter/manager for over 40 years and then moved to Walden, CO to become a store manager until his retirement. Jim is survived by his wife, Carol of Walden, CO; his sons, Marty of New York, Sidney Joe and Frank Wade and his wife, Dina, all of Brush, CO; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Marge Christensen and Mabel Brown and her husband, Alan, and one brother, Art Weaver and wife, Casey and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Laura Riley and husband, Jim, Lucille Romine and husband, Larry; nephews, Alan Mick and Kent Christensen and a grandson, Bill Savage. A memorial service will be Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Chappell, Nebraska. The services will conclude at the church. Private inurnment will be in the Chappell Cemetery. Heer & Dahl Mortuary has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
