James (Jim) Elmer Snead, who passionately lived life as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and prairie grassland advocate recently went to his heavenly home.

Jim passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 77 years of age. Jim was a long-term resident of Fort Morgan, and passed away in Lafayette Colorado where he had recently relocated.

Jim was born December 7, 1939 in Denver, to William and Mary (McPherron) Snead. He grew up in Arvada, and married Ardith Sue Cleaver on June 18, 1960 in Arvada, Colorado.

Jim was a long-term employee of the Department of Energy at the Rocky Flats facility in Golden, Colorado. During his career at Rocky Flats Jim completed an apprenticeship in welding and sheet metal in addition he served in supervisory capacities. Jim also worked on "Kristi Kat" snow vehicles, and he loved to invent things using his various skills.

Jim enjoyed hunting, shooting, and caring for his flower and vegetable gardens. Jim was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan and a life member of the NRA.

Survivors include, his wife Sue of Lafayette, three daughters; Barbara and Alan Lewis of Lafayette, Beverly Jorgenson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Brenda and Mark Reid of Aurora, one brother; William Louis Snead II, of Lakewood, and grandchildren; Travis Lewis, Samuel Lewis, Lynette (Reid) Phillips, David Reid, Audrey Throgmorton, Matthew Jorgenson and Andrew Jorgenson.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:30 am at the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
