James Wade Thompson, 74, formerly of Ft. Morgan, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Gray Cara Assisted Living Center in Keenesburg, Colorado. He was born January 16, 1934 in Edmond, Kansas to Wade and Bertha (Brownlee) Thompson. James' family moved to Colorado in 1938. He was in the United States Army in 1955 through 1958 and had lived in the Denver area for a time. In the mid 1970's he moved to Ft. Morgan and remained here until about three years ago when he moved to Keenesburg. James was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed driving around the county looking over the countryside. Survivors include two sons, James "Jim" Thompson of Brighton and Tommy Thompson of Wiggins, two sisters, Lavern "Anita" Johnson of Greeley and Connie Dolph of Orchard, five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Bonnie Thompson, and infant grandson, Nicholas Thompson. Visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2008 from 2 until 5 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 1:30 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. The Heer Mortuary and Crematory in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
