Obituary

James "Jim" Wright, 89, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died Thursday morning in a peaceful sleep. Jim was born December 12, 1923 in Colorado Springs, CO to Cory and Ruth Wright. He served in the Navy Air Corps in WWII from 1943 to 1946. After the war, he worked as a civilian for an air craft mechanics outfit. He married Wanda Beverly in Colorado Springs on October 4, 1947. He spent the rest of his career working for the Mountain Bell Systems, retiring in 1981 after 35 years. Jim continued to be an active participant in the United Methodist Church and Telephone Pioneers. Over the years he was involved in Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, the local Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, the Brush Volunteer Fire Department, and the United Way. In his past-time he enjoyed golfing, installing and maintaining sprinkler systems, and making birdhouses. Jim volunteered his services wherever he could and never knew a stranger. Survivors include his children: Doug, of Gilbert AZ; Nancy Sailsbery of Weldona, CO; and Teresa Lebsock of Casper, WY; one sister, Elba Reid of Pueblo, CO; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Wanda, his parents, his sister, Alice Davis, and brothers, Earnest, Warren, and Elbert. There will be a visitation on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 5 until 7 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to either the United Methodist Church in Ft. Morgan or to the Fort Morgan Rotary Club with a memo stating "Polio Plus" so it will go to help immunize kids for childhood diseases.
