Janet Mitchell, 93, longtime area resident, passed away early, Friday,  April 24, 2020 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.

She was born October 31, 1926 in Lorton, NE to Chester & Louie (Pember) Gray.  The family moved to Sterling, CO. where her parents ran "Grays Cabin Court".  Janet attended grade school and junior high in Sterling.  Later the family moved to Loveland, CO. where she attended high school.

She married Robert E Mitchell on October 26, 1946 in Sterling, CO. but they made their home in Greeley, CO.  Janet and Robert attended Grace Church in Greeley, CO. Her favorite passtime was to garden strawberries, peppers and tomatoes.  She also loved to grow different kinds of flowers and the favorite was her canas.  She is remembered by many people for her positive attitude and infectious laughter. Having her family around her always bought her the greatest joy and excitement.

She is survived by her 3 children, Judith Stephens of Sterling, CO., James and (Linda) Mitchell of Sioux City, Iowa, Steven and (Karla) Mitchell of Sebring, Fl., and one brother, Logan Gray of Aurora, CO.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mike Weitzel, Amy Weitzel, Doug Mitchell, Laura Weeter, Suzy Pace, David Mitchell, Andre Pennington, Ronald Mitchell, Donald Mitchell, 32 great grandchildren and 4 great-great childchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William Gray, sister, Gloria Walls and her husband Robert E. Mitchell.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for a later date.

Inurnment will take place in Brush memorial cemetery where she will reside with her husband Robert E. Mitchell.
