Janice Penfold, 68, of Wiggins, Colorado passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Brush, Colorado to Jake and Esther Baumgartner and she attended Wiggins schools. Jan is survived by her husband, Melvin Penfold of Wiggins; her children, Shelley (Steve) Gray of Seattle, WA, Chance (Becky) Ruhl of Wiggins, Laci Byers of Louisville, Britt (Norm) Dinis of Wiggins, and Deb (Theresa) Adler of Greeley. She is also survived by her stepsons, Jess (Autumn) Penfold of Windsor and Josh (Janelle) Penfold of Milliken; brothers, Larry (Jean) Baumgartner of Bryan, OH, Stanley (Cheryl) Baumgartner of Wiggins, and Kenny (Nan) Baumgartner of Las Vegas, NV, 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who thought the world of her. Jan made many friends in her community and throughout her various careers. While her children were young she worked at Wiggins Auto Supply and drove a bus for Wiggins Schools. She later served as dispatcher and director of Morgan County Combined Communications and finally as Administration Manager for Frontier Airlines. In addition, she volunteered 13 years of service as an EMT with Morgan County Ambulance Service, serving the Wiggins community. RaRa (as everyone knew her) enjoyed golf, travel, ATVing, remodeling all of the kids' homes thanks to HGTV/DIY, and loved being an exchange student parent. But more than anything, she loved her family and grandkids and never missed an opportunity to travel with them, impart her wisdom, and cheer them on from the bleachers. She will be truly missed by all. A memorial service will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan on Thursday, July 23rd at 10:00 AM. A luncheon reception will follow immediately at the Wiggins Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
