Jay C. Paulsen, 86, passed away Sunday night, July 11, 2010, at the Valley View Villa Nursing Home in Fort Morgan, CO. He was born September 8, 1923, in Brayton, IA, to Walter & Esther Paulsen. Jay married Frances Petersen in Reinbeck, IA, on December 31, 1943. They farmed in the Reinbeck community for many years. In 2001, they moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado. While living in Fort Morgan Jay attended Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching quarter horse racing. Jay's favorite past time was spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Frances of Fort Morgan, CO; 5 children, Joseph (Mary) of Norwalk, IA, Kim (Janyce) of Pocatello, ID, Philip (Jo Beth) of Aurora, MO, Curtis (Cindy) of Oskaloosa, IA, and Cheryl Becker (Dan) of Brush and 1 son-in-law, Jim Smith; 1 brother, Gordon Paulsen of Paige, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Kari Lynn; 2 brothers, Gerald & Allan; and 1 sister, Janice Brandhorst and his parents. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM a the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush.
