Jean Catherine Schwindt, 83, longtime area resident, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at her home in Ft. Morgan. She was born March 26, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to Frank and Francis (Granaman) Peterson. Jean grew up in Sperry, Iowa and attended school there. She graduated from Burlington Junior College in 1948 and taught grade school for two years before beginning her life in Colorado in 1950. She moved to this area in 1957 from Wray. Her greatest joy in life was gathering her family all together. Jean was married to Robert C. Hutcheson until his death in 1983. She later married Robert L. Schwindt who preceded her in death in 2010. Jean was a Charter Member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Ft. Morgan and was very active in her church. She was also a member of Arcturis Club and was on the committee that started the first kindergarten in Ft. Morgan. Jean was a wonderful seamstress and made just about all of her children's clothes when they were young. She also enjoyed painting, calligraphy, sketching, playing golf, and playing bridge. Jean and several of her friends regularly took long walks together and she affectionately called them her "Walking Girls". Survivors include, three daughters, Linda Smith and husband Craig and Carol Foos and husband Gary all of Ft. Morgan and Debra Roberts and husband David of Castle Rock, one son, Robert D. Hutcheson of Evans, step-children, Cynthia Schwindt of Denver, Randy Schwindt who lives in Nebraska and Barbara Murray and husband Tim who live in Tennessee, ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her step-son, Jerry Schwindt, grandson, Brandon Schwindt, her sister, Virginia Schulte and her parents. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to either the Northern Colorado Hospice or to the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Ft. Morgan. The Heer Mortuary in Ft.
