Obituary

Jean Weimer, 77, longtime Fort Morgan resident, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO. She was born January 4, 1932, in Pine Bluffs, WY, to Owen Francis & Vera Pearl Miller. Jean attended school in Kimball, NE and moved to Fort Morgan in 1965, where she first worked at the Park Terrace Restaurant as a waitress. Dresser Atlas then hired her to work in their office where she remained a valued employee for thirteen years. Most of the community will remember her best for her employment at the Business Mart, beginning in 1989. In 1995 she was awarded the Morgan County Favorite Store Employee by the Fort Morgan Chamber of Commerce. Jean was Hallmark card manager and bookkeeper until retiring in 2000. She was coaxed out of retirement to work part-time as a bookkeeper in the Cover Theatre office for Mr. & Mrs. Mike Tibbetts. Jean married Alex Weimer in 1968, and together they raised seven children. When Alex became prominent in the Elks Lodge, Jean was his major supporter and loved to travel with him to the many meetings and conventions, including international trips. She was an active member of Christ Congregational Church, singing in the choir and participating in the Mary Martha Circle. Playing cribbage, reading, music, collecting Kewpie dolls and music boxes and sewing were all favorite pastimes for Jean. But above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Ronnie John Novotny of Tulsa, OK, Rona and Den Ansley of Lemoyne, NE, Kevin Malone of San Diego, CA, Deb and Matt Lloyd of Las Vegas, NV, Tim & Lorrie Malone, Tim and Jeri Weimer and Sandy & Jack Westhoff, all of Fort Morgan; her sister, June Smith Catt of Casper, WY; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends who will miss Jean and her gracious outlook on life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex, a daughter, Cheryl Weimer, one great grandson, 1 sister, Joyce Henrietta Miller, a brother, George Henry Miller, and her parents. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at 10:30 AM at the Christ Congregational Church, 730 Ensign Street in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in the Serenity Falls Columbarium.
