Jeanette Lavonne Kautz, 70, longtime area resident, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on October 28, 2010 at her home in Hillrose, CO. She was born October 23, 1940 to Dale and Violet Allen in Colby, Kansas. The family later moved to Fort Morgan where Jeanette graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1958. On October 25, 1958, Jeanette married the love of her life, Gene Kautz, in Hillrose, CO to which four children were born -Marty, Sherry, Jackie and Julie. Jeanette worked at A&W Rootbeer and Yates Drug Store in Fort Morgan. Throughout her life, Jeanette worked to help her family. Gene and Jeanette built a life in the fields, sewing clothes for her family and making a loving home. She also worked at the Geise Beet Dump and worked part-time at the Hillrose Post Office. In later years, she worked in Brush for 33 years, most of which was as manager at Majestic Savings, which later became World Savings and then First Security Bank. She retired from working as manager at Equitable Savings in Brush in 2006. Jeanette's greatest love was for her family. She was always happiest spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Jeanette was an avid reader and she loved to crochet, cross stitch and sew. She loved working in the garden and canning the fruits of her labor. She was an excellent cook and loved music. Jeanette also had a great love for animals and especially enjoyed watching the newborn calves running and playing in the Spring. Jeanette's faith was very strong and the close relationship she had with God made her the kind of person all wish to be. Jeanette was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, including the quilting group. At the time of her death, she was a member of the East Morgan County Library Board. Previously, Jeanette served on the Hillrose Town Council and was a member of the Lazy Daisy Club. She is survived by her husband, Gene, of Hillrose; her father, Dale Allen; a brother, Robert Allen; a sister, Deanna Pyle; three daughters, Sherry Ruder and her husband, Joe, of Fort Morgan, CO., Jackie Hill and her husband, Gab, of Kirk, CO., and Julie August and her husband, Roger, of Pagosa Springs, CO.; seven grandsons, Jake and Ty Kautz, Matt, Taylor and Trenton Ruder, and Dale and Gary August; six step grandchildren, Brandon Hill and his wife, Erin, Brianna Hill and her fiancé, Matt Kastner, Kasey Hill and Liz Gardocki; a great grandson, Kayden Kautz and a step great granddaughter, Isabel Hill. She is also survived by brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Wanda Erosky, and Ellen Kautz, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanette is preceded in death by her mother, Violet Allen, her son, Marty, her grandson, Nicholas Ruder, her in-laws, Jacob and Pauline Kautz, and a brother-in-law, Carl Kautz. Visitation will be Sunday, October 31, 2010 from 2-4 at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary. A funeral service will be Monday, November 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush.
