Jennie Mata, 83, life resident of the Brush community, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born in Brush on May 16, 1937 to Guadalupe & Juanita Rocha.
Jennie worked in the sugar beet fields as a youngster with her family. She was very devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She rarely missed a sporting event that involved her family. She was a cheerleader for the Brush Beetdiggers and the Wiggins Tigers, especially when her grandchildren were involved in the event. She was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Wiggins and spent many hours volunteering at Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Mary's Catholic Churches. She was a devoted member and loved attending Sunday mass where she worshiped and enjoyed coffee and donuts with her follow parishioners. She loved eating Chinese food. She also enjoyed her afternoon drives and had her favorite spots where she would stop and say hi to everyone.
Survivors include her husband, Joe; her children, Robert Meza, Teresa Meza, Victor Meza Jr., Randy (Cheryl) Meza; Jennie Rodriguez, Shaire (Joe Irigoyen) Chavez, Vincent (Gladys) Meza; Malessa (Ismael) Hernandez, Gerrard Flores, and Sonia (Aaron) Mendoza; 2 brothers, Jesse Rocha, Danny Rocha; 2 sisters, Josie Ponce, & Julia Rocha; 41 Grandchildren, 67 Great Grandchildren, & 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 children, Cynthia Meza, Diana O'Brien, and Ronnie Meza; 3 sister, Lupe Flores, Cruz Rivera, & Mary Santiago; 3 brothers, William Rocha, Manuel Rocha Sr., and Gilbert Rocha; and her parents.
A rosary will be recited Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 6:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Wiggins. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, April 23, at St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
