He lived a long and meaningful life, touching the hearts of family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his kindness, strength of character, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
Jens D. Christensen, born December 8, 1935, in Brush, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 90.
Throughout his life, Jens demonstrated dedication, resilience, and genuine care for others. He valued friendship deeply and was blessed to share a cherished friendship of 28 years with Sharon Bzdek, whose companionship brought joy, support, and countless treasured memories.
Jens and his late wife Sara were known for their compassion and dedication to helping young people in need. Their commitment began with foster care in 1968, when they opened their hearts and home to children who needed nurturing, guidance and support. Over the years, they positively influenced the lives of 235 boys, providing encouragement, stability, structure and teaching life skills that helped shape their futures. The impact of their kindness, mentorship, and unwavering belief in others continues to be felt by the many lives they touched.
Jens enjoyed a wide range of interests and hobbies. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed cattle roundups, poker, and creating as well as restoring buggies, which reflected his hands-on skill and creativity.
Jens was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara (Aggson) Christensen; his father, Jens R. Christensen; his mother, Christine Christensen; and five siblings.
He is survived by his sons, Scott Christensen, Shawn G. Christensen and wife, Patti (Cornell) Christensen and; his cherished grandchildren, Kyle Christensen, Bryson Christensen, Megan (Borchers) Christensen, and Taylor Christensen; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Corbin Christensen, Atlas Christensen, and Riley Borchers.
He treasured the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his love and guidance will remain a lasting part of their lives.

Numerous holidays were celebrated at the family farm in Brush, were laughter echoed throughout the home, meals were shared around the table, and card games were enjoyed. All were welcome. Those gatherings created treasured memories and strengthened the bonds of family and friends that Jens held so dear.
Jens' memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the relationships he nurtured over the years. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
