JERRY L. FRASURE, 71, of Fort Morgan, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 26, 2008 at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. He was born March 12, 1937 in the small coal mining town of Brookeside, KY to Charles & Viola Frasure. When he was young the family moved to Lewisport, KY where he grew up working on the family's tobacco farm. Jerry graduated from Lewisport High School in 1955. Soon afterwards he began his career as a meat grader with the Department of Agriculture in Owensboro, KY. During the next few years, Jerry traveled throughout the western United States grading meat. He spent a few years in Omaha, NE before coming to Fort Morgan in 1972 to grade at the newly built beef plant. In 1993 Jerry retired from grading with over 30 years of service and many certificates of merit. In his earlier years Jerry enjoyed drag racing his car, winning many trophies doing so. He always enjoyed bowling, receiving many awards for this also. In his later years, Jerry loved hosting and cooking for his friends and family. He was an avid race fan and traveled to many different tracks where he met many of his friends. He met many of his other friends through "sandrailing". He went throughout the states to different sand dunes befriending everyone he met. Jerry loved to watch all sports but baseball and college basketball were his favorites. He always stayed true to his Kentucky Wildcats. Jerry is survived by his wife, Ellessa Frasure; his daughter, Pam Frasure; two grandkids, Ben and Lisa; a great granddaughter, Emma; and a quantity of loving friends. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, Aug. 30th at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the chapel. In lieu of gifts or flowers the family of Jerry Frasure would ask you to make a donation in his name to the Fort Morgan Animal Shelter. The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of arrangements.
