Jerry Wayne Morris, 76, a lifelong resident of the Last Chance Community, passed away peacefully, February 12th at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Brush, Colorado, on June 23rd, 1949, to parents Clara Mae (Krout) Morris and Raymond Wesley Morris. Jerry went home to the little house his parents were renting from the Whelden's where he joined older brother, Jack. Their next home was in the Old Simpson Post Office that they shared with Raymond's Sister Ellen, husband Al Relaford, and their three daughters, Doris Elaine, Dorothy, and Beverly.  Shortly they moved two old houses onto what became the home place and took up permanent residence. In 1952 Katherine Ann completed the family.

The Morris Family were hard workers, farming, raising sheep, breaking ground for neighbors like the Houghs, and doing whatever it took in those days to make a living. Remembering those days, Jerry talked about what he must have smelled like when Duane Gilbert pulled the Woodlin bus into the yard and he would run up from the barn where he had just finished chores.

Jerry attended Shamrock School, a two-room school until 7th grade and then graduated from Woodlin School in 1967. He went on to Colorado State University and received his Ag Economics degree.

Following graduation from CSU he and buddy Gerry Nickell, joined the National Guard and headed to Fort Ord, California to begin Basic Training.  During that time, his mom encouraged him to go to the San Francisco Bay Area to visit one of his teachers formerly at Shamrock School.  He finally did spring of 1972; the Johnson's brought him to church and Laurie Ann McClintock entered his life.

Jerry and Laurie were married at her home church in Corte Madera, California on August 18, 1973. The city girl went to the country. They were blessed with Gidget Ann in 1976 and Christopher Ray four years later. They were also delighted when Gidget's family grew with the arrival of Tabiatha and Tyler.  Grandma and Grandpa would load the Cessna and fly to wherever Gidget and family were for Grandparent time.

The early years were busy with farming, pigs, sheep and the kids' activities. We had memorable trips with Katherine to Germany,  and when we flew via the  Cessna to Alaska to see Jack, Nancy, Chad, and Blain. The most recent trip was the long-awaited Alaskan Cruise from Juneau to Seattle for the delayed 50th Anniversary.

Laurie recently asked Jerry what he would do if he had to do it over, his response, he wouldn't change a thing, he loved his years farming, he loved his family and friends deeply, flying, and his 34 years serving Washington County as an EMT Intermediate.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Raymond, mother Clara Mae, brother Jack, nephew Chad, in-laws Jim and Liz McClintock, brother-in-law Scott, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by wife Laurie, son Chris (Georgia), daughter Gidget, granddaughter Tabiatha, grandson Tyler, sister Katherine, sister-in-law Nancy, nephew Blain, many friends, and the best Four-Legged Companion, Max.

A Memorial Service will be held for Jerry Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Woodlin School Auditorium, 15400 Co Rd L, Woodrow, CO 80757.
